I may be interested in the gears but I'm a babe in the woods on this subject. My '48 Chevy street-rod-to-be has a ten bolt rear end but I have no idea what it's out of. It appears to have a 2.56:1 ratio and is backing up a '95 Caprice Lt1 engine and 4L60E tranny. Do you have info/a web site that'll tell me (a) how to determine whether the gear set will fit and (b) what's involved in installing it? I've seen some TV shows about setting up a differential using a dial gauge and witness grease and all that but have zero experience in the process.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

well according to your specs you have a 2 series carrier these gears will fit with the spacer from mr gasket
or buy the carrier i have with it its a 3 series carrier and is should drop rite into a gm 10 bolt.
now for setting up a rear end if you have never done one leave it to a professional technican that has done a few with no problems. its very critical that it is done rite as far as backlash and pinion depth so you dont have any noise on coast or drive side of the gears
hope this helps

I may be interested in the gears. The only concern I would have is using the spacer because I have a 2 series carrier, has anyone used these spacers before and know if there is any disadvantages to using one?
