Default drive shaft for TH-400 conversion

I have a drive shaft that I had built for my Trans-AM to fit the turbo 400 transmission.I have sold everthing else except the driveshaft.I had it built at houston drivetrain it cost me $600 I would like to get $350 for it.This is for a turbo 400 that has the bolt in yoke I have everthing you need to put it in your car it is also good for 1000HP.

Do you have a little more info on it? Steel or chromemoly (however you spell it)? Do you have the transmission yoke for it? 1350 joints I suppose? Which rear does this go to? I can get a Denny's for $350, sell me on this one.

The driveshaft is steel I do have the transmisssion yoke with the bolt and washer.Yes it does have the 1350 joints on both ends.It fits the stock rear end but it will also fit a 12 bolt rearend if you change the U-joint.If you are interested make me an offer I have no use for it now.

if it fits stock rear, then it should not fit the 12 bolt if I remember correctly. It would need to be a different length

When I had the driveshaft built I told the guy that I would be changing my rearend to a 12 bolt latter he said it would not be a problem.the drive shaft has a slip joint built into it so it is not ridged.because the yoke bolt's into the transmission.

Let's see a pic of this thing. Honestly I've never seen a d/s for the bolt in tranny yoke. So there's an adjustment factor here?

here's a picture of the drive shaft. It measures 52" fully extended from the end of the yoke to back of U-joint where it slips into the rearend yoke. And it measures 49 1/2 fully retracted.the yoke slides into the tranny 3".

I'm interested, just don't know about these measurements. Was this actually in the car at some point or never installed?

yes I had this in my car for about 3 months fit just fine.I took the tubo 400 out of my car and went back to the 4l60 and the guy that I sold it to already had a driveshaft. The place that built the driveshaft for me had me measure from the end of the tailshaft on the tranny to where the U-joint fits into the rearend yoke and he made it from that measurement.

I believe that on a 400 turbo there is only one length tailshaft if i'm not mistaken which would be 4".If you lock on gearvendors websight they on offer the overdrive unit on the turbo 400 with a 4" tailshaft.

That sounds right on the tail. However, I was just searching around on the forum for dimensions and nothing really jived. I think the deal is you measure from U-joint center to U-joint center but it's gonna be different for your shaft cuz it's bolt in yoke. Since you had it in the car, how much adjustment did you have when it was installed in your application? I just don't want to get it and then it be the wrong length. It'll be a bit before I install a shaft in mine.
