LE2 package and higher miles?
LE2 package and higher miles? Hey guys, was just wondering if it would be safe for a le2 package being that I have a 132k on the stock motor now. Any advice appreciated

My AI top end rebuild was done w/ 135k on it. I'm putting well over 400 to the rear and it feels really strong. I would say if the car has been well maintained the you should have no problems. A more aggresive cam can make all the difference in how long your set up will last and run. It's a risk we all take.. if it's gonna go, then it's gonna go. Just be ready to accept the reprocussions with a more aggresive set up cause anything can happen.
Thats the responses I was looking for!! I still want to talk to lloyd though and get his opinion but that seems to be the best bang for the buck being I have all the supporting mods done to the car

My buddy put the LE1 setup on his car at 130K and the motor took a **** immediately after. It was more than likely on its way before he did the work and the cam and whatnot just put it over the edge. I would just be aware that the it could possibly add to the chance of the motor going on its way out soon after you do the work maybe but its worth a shot if the car has been well maintained.

IMHO the odds of it crapping out are far better than it not. The motor will not take kindly to the higher revving conditions of the LE2 package. I give you a 25% chance it does not crap out.
if the engine is in good running order with no skipped oil changes, no overheating, etc, you are probably OK with heads and a small cam. Most agree that 6300 RPM is about all you wanna spin a stock bottom end if it needs to live. "Some" will get lucky and spin the engine 6500 or even 6700-6800 RPM with no problem but "most" will have problems at this RPM, even if the engine is fine now.
If you get a mild cam (less than 230 duration) and keep the engine RPM in the 6300 RPM (or less) range, you should be fine. If you end up having problems shifting at this RPM, the engine was wounded and would not have lived long at 6000 RPM either.
If the engine lost a water pump, electric fans stopped working, wtc and the engine has been ran hot, you are increasing the odds of having problems. Same way with skipping oil changes.
LE2 heads would work fine. The limiting factor would be cam selectiona dn RPM. As long as you keep the engine below 6400 RPM, you will probably be fine.

As mentioned, as long as the motor is in good health, there should be no problem doing a H/C set up.
I've had my h/c/i for 3 years now and running it at the track when I can. And just recently spraying it with some JUICE. Check my sig, nothing special.

That all sounds great cause the engine is in excellent shape and has been well cared for its whole life. Now so it seems that maybe the le2heads and the le1 cam might be the safer route for now?? Guess its all just rollin the dice anyways right!
