Default Has anyone rebuilt an Opti?

I thought I saw a thread on it but no luck finding it yet. I have the base and metal cover in the kit I bought from Autozone. I have my old supposedly bad Opti and I want to build a good one... are there any guides that can help me?

Thanks

I've haven't put mine back together, but I have the instruction sheet for it some where. I know you'll need a T8 and an E4 Torx bit to do it. You'll want new O rings also. I lost my bag of new O rings and screws. I think the instructions might have been in there, but I'll look.

The inside of the opti is dirt simple. Just make sure the segmented pulse wheel does NOT rub the inside of the sensor, the bearing has no slop and the rotor is loc-tited down.

Can you elaborate on why that is important?

Long relevant story: I recently purchased a 'low mile used Opti' that seemed to run fine on a test drive right after I installed it. Took it to the Bay Bottom Crawl (a very high speed 2.5 mile SOLO-1 style autocross) and after just 4 runs, it developed a DTC 16 (low res signal). If I clear the code, it never sets unless I run the car above 2000 RPMs.

When I took the Opti apart to see if the sensor was clouded, I noticed rub marks on the 'front' side of the shutter wheel where it had rubbed the sensor. I also noticed a REMAN stamp on one leg of the base. Of course, by the time I saw the rib marks on the shutter wheel, I had the whole thing apart and didn't have any way of knowing whether it was rubbing right before I unscrewed the rotor. I did think it was interesting enough to mock the assembly back up without the shield so I could see how flat the wheel ran. It looks fine and I reassembled the whole thing (after cleaning the sensor) and am just putting it back together. No idea if it all works yet. All the terminals in the sensor and harness look good.
