crank but no start.
i tried to start my car this morning and it cranked, but wouldnt fire.
it was cranking fast enough to build oil pressure but would not start. so i am ruling out low battery power.
i was thinking VATS, but once i turned the key the alarm turned off, so not VATS related.
last time i drove it it threw a code (second time) that i could not get off of it with my reader OR the reader that advance auto had.
i talked to a friend and he said that the car may have a blown fuse for the OBD2 port (but i dont know if such exists on this car.
i would like some help ASAP, as i need to get to work in the next hour...
all help is greatly appreciated. thanks.

i have the battery charging because it was getting worn down. i think i may have flooded it with fuel on one of the times...
if you put the accelerator pedal to the floor on these cars, it cuts off fuel right, (so do that if i did flood it)? thats how my stang was...
i have never had issues with the formula until this morning...

i dont have a fuel pressure tester gauge for fuel injected cars unfortunately (just carbed)...
i was going to pick up a new fuel filter, i will probably get a fuel pressure tester while i am at it.
i will probably pick up some plugs at the same time and do a full tune up.
what is the best way to test the opti for spark? at the coil or at the plug wire?
would it be safe to say that i can eliminate v.a.t.s. due to the alarm going off when i put the key in?

EDIT: DO NOT start throwing parts at the car to get it running, make sure you thoroughly test each system before you replace a part in it.
I agreed with checking in order like stated above.
It does sound like the Opti is craping out from my experience or somehow moisture got in the opti and that can cause problems.
The only variable that changed after you turned it off was "RAIN", moisture.
I also understand you urgency on needing wheels quickly.
Good luck.
I forgot to say, just pull the plug on number 1 or pull the SP wire on #1 and stick in any old/new spark plug. Get it close to a good ground and turn it over. That will eleminate (I hope) the Opti Rotor/cap.
That is a 5 minute check.
i took her for a spin got her up to temp. shut the car off. took her for another spin and shut the car off. and i wanted to start it one more time, and it started fine.
would this be a sign of OPTI failure? i am going to be doing all of the diagnosis tomorrow before i go to work.
how would resetting the PCM and ICU cause my car to not only start, but to run better?
i disconnected the battery, waited 5 mins, pulled fuses and let it sit for an hour and reconnected. the car is running better than ever...
why would that be?
