Default Best upgrade heads? Pricing?

How much would it run me to upgrade my heads? What are the most recommended and what kind of power would i be putting down?

Also do you need to pull the engine and is this a DIY project?

(Noob, sorry for the questions!) thanks!

Read the sticky at the top of this section titled "Stock Heads/cam swap" All the info you need is in there

You can do it with the engine in the car

after reading more, i should probably stick with cams. i have 88k on my motor and putting heads on is probably a bad idea.

any idea what the pricing is on a set of cams on average? that sticky doesnt talk about prices either.

you need to read that sticky some more instead of just looking for prices. i'm not trying to be mean as i was in your shoes before as well...but that sticky helped me a lot and i learned where to find the parts i'd need

Edelbrock's LT4 heads and intake manifold work. They're EXPENSIVE but they work.

They are more or less stock though. Just more room for porting.

umm no, LS1 and LT1's are completely different. Nothing is interchangeable between the two except the lifters.

Im looking at cams now, not heads. I think it would be much cheaper.

Anyone selling some used cams with valve springs?

It's certainly a better $ and time spent : performance ratio.
I mean, if you're going to go that deep, you might as well do both.

Having said that, lots of people go cam-only then come back and do heads later.
(Some even just stay cam-only)

Anywhere from $1400-$3000. Just depends who you go with, and what parts you get along with H/C.
