1st - what is the purpose of a resonator? ...I'm under the assumption they dont quiet or restrict the exhaust but rather just eliminate the drone and/or rasp
2nd - where's the idea location to put a pair of 'em? ...assuming a true dual system out the rear, would you want them close to the headers similar to where the cats would be or towards the rear, say just before the tips??
the exhaust system I have in my head would be longtubes into a pair of resonators (resemble cats to pass visual here in TX), x-pipe, pair of short sweet thunders, pair of cutouts, over the axle, and into a pair of small mufflers just before the tips.
the idea being a nice, tuned (but loud) sound with the cutouts open... and nice and civilized (cutouts closed) while cruising by the HOA ***** here in my neighborhood
TIA

That'd be like 6 mufflers in your exhaust system basically. My advice would be headers, cutouts where cats would be, into an x-pipe, then sweet thunders or mufflers, then over the axle to out back.
