Default Stock short block HP limit

What is the highest rwhp i can get out of a stock short block with an M6 reliably? im also under the impression that 6500 rpm is the accepted rev limit.

Right now I'm at 490rwhp with the nitrous. 31k on my stock shortblock. Shift points are 6300. I do think I'm pushing my luck a little though, but we'll see.

360rwhp the last time on Speeds dyno. Don't worry though, my auto will still give your stick a run for it's money.

In the spring we are hoping to have a friendly NA grudge match. I'll keep the bottle off until that happens. Hell I'll have to take it out, so I can save the 25 lbs.

^^Should make for a real good race. My money is on Z unless AC can really launch and row through them gears, gonna need some vids!!

Unsure on the HP limits but rpm wise the general consensus from reputable people seems to be 6400/6500rpm or so. I revved mine out to 6900/7000 b/c messed up shiftpoints once but I wouldn't imagine that to hold together for long. I personally do not care for spinning past 6400 on a stock block.

Risk grows exponentially as you pass 6000 towards 6500+
It probably won't spin a bearing the first time you hit 6501, but it will eventually.
Figure out how much risk you want to take and go for it.
Just understand the cost of rebuilding a bottom end when you break it.
If you can't afford it, stay under 6000
(and yes, you will hear 100 stories from people who "run 6500 every day and never have a problem")

RWHP ... in the 500-550 range is doable.
Again, the more you push it, the sooner it's gonna shell.
Typically, a 400rwhp H/C motor with a 125shot is considered "safe"
Push it as far as you want to, just understand the implications.

I hear ya James. I recently had Ion lower the shift points down to 6200, from the 6400 it had for the NA runs. Kinda running out of rpm on the big end though. It's not real bad, and I've heard it's better to run out of rpms a "little" early then the other way around.

Knock on wood..... I'm one of them thats kind pushin' it. Shift points are up there (6800)w/ the limiter set @ 7200. And yes, optimum shift points for my set up via (recent updated tuning on the dyno w/ Ion and Larry).

Sounds like a plan. Just don't miss the 2-3 shift, don't miss the 2-3 shift, don't miss the 2-3 shift, miss the 2-3 shift. OOPS.

Shifting around 6500 here. I'm lucky if I make it to the track more than once a year though.
