if you stick with the 26" tires, DO NOT go with 4.10's+spray.

I've got a VERY similar setup to yours, and trap the same 1/8th and 1/4mph (a little slower on the times tho) and I really think my car is running out of breath up top with 275/40/17's, 4.10's, and the CC503.
looking at the tach, it crosses the 1/4 at 6500, and the motor's really done for around 6200 or 6300.

if you want awesome all-motor AND nitrous times, swap to a 4.10 gear, and run the 255/50 M/T drag radials for motor runs, and swap to some 28" slicks for nitrous runs.

I really think this will wake your car up a bit, and possibly help out your short game a little, by letting the gear get you up in the RPM quicker down low, improve your 60' and 330 a bit.

what kind of power has your car put down, and what 60' were your 12.2/7.9 runs on?

^Sounds like you should look into the 275/50/17 m&h drag radial also.

my friend runs 10.6's on spray in his 02 ta with 342 gears.
not sure how much 410s would help.. if anything 355's or 373's tops.

Put it this way, my 89 RS with a L98 and a carb conversion with a 295 wide tire and a 100 shot would not go anywhere in first gear with 4.10s on the street. That was about 375 FWHP and 420 FTLBS at the fly.

I'd recommend 3.73 at the most if you spray. That way you are staying in the RPM's longer, thus pulling longer. If you plan on using a window switch that is. If you have a window switch set to spray say 3K-6K RPM then 4.10's are going to get you out of that range a lot quicker, and will cause the spray to be less effective..

4.10's for na, 3.73 for power adders. I wish i had the 4.10's for na, but the bottle will go in this winter and thats when i will be glad it went for 3.73's.

I think that 3.90's sounds good for your setup

The last thing you want to do is be out of your power band before the finish line. You have to take your power curve into consideration when making a gear change like this. Find out where your power peak is with whatever setup you decide to run at the track and then find out what gear would be best.

Exactly what mine would do with the 3.73's on just motor..it would spin up first, hit second and then spin some more..

I ran 4:10's for years in my DD. They are good gears, but can be a little difficult if you dont have a good set of tires.

I found it getting loose in the rain more than the 3:42's in some instances from a dead stop. (just with casual driving)

The car put down 330whp on a Mustang dyno and the 60ft was 1.87 for both. I really think the car would leave better with more gear. Right now I have to ride to clutch to keep it from bogging.

gear it then! lol.

I had a 3.23 gear in my car with the 6spd (a4 t m6 conversion), and ran 8.6's and was only trapping 86mph in the 1/8th, it would absolutely fall on its face out of the hole, get out past the 60' mark, and finally build some power, and start to spin slightly then. or I would just bring it out way to hard, and spin forever.

I swapped to a 4.10, and nothing else, dropped 5 tenths, and picked up 4mph. I had to peddle it pretty good out of the hole on street tires, but once it did hook, it pulled through the rpm so much quicker (obviously, that's what mechanical advantage does) had me ending the 1/8th mile in the top of 3rd, instead of the bottom of 3rd.

your all-motor runs will pick up for sure with a 4.10, but nitrous??? idk..
I think motive makes a 3.90 gear for a 10-bolt now...

Good option for the 4.10s. Stick with a 26" tall tire for the street and N/A runs at the track. Swap to a 28" slick for the spray runs at the track.

Good advice (see above^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^)

A lot of people alway reccomend very steep gears because that is what they use. They fail to realize, that as a car gets faster (traps higher), they will either have to swap gears to a taller set, add larger tires, or at last resort raise the rev limiter and go through the traps at a higer RPM.

I dealt with it in my 96 Cobra. With the eaton blower 26" slicks, and 3.73s, I was going through the traps at 129 and had a couple hunmdred RPM left (limiter set at 6500).

I added more power (KB at 18 lbs) and ended up trapping 134, hitting the rev limiter a little before the traps.

After that, I upped the boost (25psi race tune), dropped back to 3.55s and trapped 142 at exactly 6500. Now I am at a point wher a tire or a gear change may make too much of a difference. I am went through the traps at an optimal RPM, but did it in less than optimal conditions. It should trap a little highter in better conditions, so I may have to raise the limiter a couple hindred RPM.

That may work out just right.
