In need of a cam
I've heard that the cc 503 cam is the one to go with for a stock headded lt1. I cannot figure out what the hell that is. I know it is a Comp Cams cam but???? I was looking at the Comp cams XFI 292 Cam but the lift seems a bit high. Need a little help figuring out what the cc503 is. Thanx.

That should be a good cam choice for stock heads. That cam is close to the old school 218/230 on a 114 seperation cam (typically a nitrous cam) that I ran and made close to 350 rwhp with typical bolt ons through a 6 speed.

It is used. It was out of my buddy's 396 w/ ~7k miles on it. It has a smaller base circle to work in stroker motors, but will work perfectly fine in a stock 350. I should also have the longer CC chromemoly 7.35" pushrods that should be used with it. I'll let them both go for $120 plus shipping (once I find it).

Comp's rpm ranges are WAY WAY lower than actually needed. The XFI 292 has been tried in a stock shortblock and had not yet peaked at 7000rpms.
If the 292 atall looked like a useable choice to you please slow down and start over with your research, because the info you have sofar will not serve you well.
