Default what header wrap?

I'm thinking of doing all my hot-side parts in exhaust wrap. looks like the DEI wrap has the bext temp rating, complimented by their silicone based water proofing spray. Im wondering what color you guys think looks the best ?

From what it looks like they only offer a light brown and black wrap. I would go with the black out of the two.

Why would coated be easier to work with when it comes to header wrap? Just curious...

what do you mean coated is easier to work with? a 1/4 inch of wrap on the pipes somehow makes it harder to bolt in place? please explain

I just did the black header wrap on my motorcycle header pipes, its actually a dark grey color not black but it is a real PAI to install, also got the DEI stainless clamps which work good, I found using a few plastic wire ties along the way tremendously helpfull, as would have been a second person. I think these guys mean that the coated type headers just avoid all this work and don't have the ability to be cut or anything later on...
Good luck

The way I thought was he was getting Painted Headers and just Wrapping them. I was saying that the Coated ones are easier with the Heat dissapation, and look better IMO..

I think what he is saying is that wrap is the wrong way to go about this and ceramic coating is a better option. It actually protects headers rather than promotes massive corossion and creating a fire hazzard like wrap.

The header wrap gives any fluids that leak somewhere to collect, hence the fire hazard comment.

To be honest with you, I didn't think about the Fire Hazard cause every Wrap that I have seen people use was a Fiber-glass based material, and in a way it's kinda woven to be Heat absorbant, fire resistant.

It's not that the wrap itself is flammable (that would be a very poor design),
it's the fluids it traps that are flammable and the heat/humidity they trap that cause the rust.

Coated headers will rust too, where they are exposed to rocks, salt and a lot
of water (IE: under the car, past the collectors). The only way to prevent that
is to buy $tainless headers.
