Yea, its just a small torx bit. Like .99 cents at the hardware store.

I wouldnt' worry about using a torque wrench either. Just use common sense and you will be fine.

As for the Delteq, hopefully you won't end up like me, I spent over $600 on Opti's BEFORE I spent anything on the Delteq! I finally said F-it. It was like a revolving door of POS parts for me....Opti > Coil > ICM > Plugs > Opti > Coil > etc. I could replace that damn thing with my eyes closed as many times as I took them apart. Pretty sure my car was posessed though!!

Yeah, you can replace the timing cover/opti seal with the cover on the motor..just did it 4 days ago ( $9@GM).Make sure to lube the dry seal rubber with a little motor oil and I like to smear a little brown permatex gasket maker on the metal part of the seal and use a seal driver or something to provide even pressure while gently tapping it in. Make sure you don't pinch a CPS sensor wire if it runs next to the WP like mine...oops. I siliconed the opti housing seal outside of the O ring but the MSD has an extra ledge, may not work on a Delphi (extra insurance).

Ah ok...went back and re-read it and it made sense that time...replacing the opti seal with the motor cover on..how hard is this to do and is it a necessary step to take? I want this done right because this is my dd, but at the same time I am needing to do this as cheaply as possible.

Depends on the condition of the Seal..all you would need is a Flat-head Screwdriver, or a Seal Puller.

If I was home I would give you the Timing Cover Seal Kit that I have laying around, that is about the only LT1 Parts I still have..lol

Dendyc, do you need a cap and rotor too or did you buy one with the opti? I think I have a brand new cap and rotor set that I need to get rid of if you're interested?

I would replace the seal since you are in there. The old one is wore into the old opti. You wouldn't hone your cylinders, use your old rings and expect it to have outstanding oil/compression control. A new opti will break in with a new seal. Why risk it? 9 bucks is cheap insurance against leaks and it isn't hard to do.
