One thing to be aware of is rim slippage in the tire. Mark the tire and rim with a paint dot and check it frequently. My ET Streets above 17psi didn't have any issues, at 16psi the rim spun in the tire and the paint dots ended up about an inch apart. They seemed to like 18-19 psi for my application but if you feel you will need less pressure just be aware and check the dots. Its no fault of the rim, just the nature of the situation.

SLICKS or Drag Radials? Lots of people run stock rims with drag radials, I'm one of them. I have the 5-spokes and Mickey DRs, which I bought slightly used. I couldn't stand my salad shooters heh

255 is the widest I'd go on stockers, not just because of the fact you'll need wider rims to support fatter tires, but because you'll run into the wheel well if you don't space the rim out

ya mine we're 26x10.5's ET streets on my salad shooters which are for sale in my sig if anyone else is interested. I never got the chance to mark the tire to check for rim spinnage but i guess they could have a little...

I used to run 26x11.5 ET streets on my salad shooters with my old LT1 car all the time with no issues, though I never really paid any attention to see if they were spinning on the rim. I'd run them as low as 9.5-10 psi when i was spraying out of the hole (m6, 1.51 60 ft).

yea, I'm running drag radials right now but as of this fall I seem to be overpowering them. I've got my car into the 11's now and I need more grip. Thanks guys for the response to my thread. I was asking about this because I don't think I can afford both slicks and wheels right now. Merry Christmas Everybody!

It's too bad you don't have bigger rims.. thats why I love my 17x9's.. can easily fit a 275 on there.. Soon I want to buy 17x11's and roll my fenders in back so I can put on some 315 radials..
What type of radials are you running now?
I hear those new Nitto radials hook up really good.. the NT01's or something like that..

Not to be picky but what suspension mods do you have and what DR? There are several cars running with DRs that run in the 10's, some of the 9's could too, I just don't know any of them. I think if you are over powering them, it might just be that the suspension need to be tweaked on. Hope that helps some. Just would not want you to spend money on something that is not the problem.

I have street tires now (Summotomo's) they don't hook worth crap..
Lol I plan on getting those Nitto 275 555r drag radials or NT01's or whatever they are called that are hard core drag radials for when I get my rearend done
Start with the rear then work your way up (suspension, etc.)
