Not hard at all, just 2 Bolts on the side of the Block. Maybe a little tight as far as clearance.

Just dis-connect the Battery first.

x2^ you will need a 9/16 socket with long extension and a 5/16 1/4 socket for the little nuts on there...and disconnect batt. first.....

yea its really easy, like at most 30 minutes

counting the battery and wires you have to remove 5 nuts and bolts

only problem will be working around your pipes, but you can take it out with the exhaust in place

If its an auto, remove the converter dust shield to gain some more access.

Some thing like that, check A-zone, I just picked up a Duralast with a life time warranty on it not to long ago, think it was 186$ with tax?

I see no reason it won't fit as an LT1 is an LT1, but get the Corvette Spec'd Starter from Autozone. Small, cool sound, lightweight, Lifetime Warranty. $120 + core. Just bring your core back another day... I'll have to double check threads, but I see no reason for it not to fit.

Yeah the starter for a '96 Corvette, dubbed the LT4 starter, is a nice upgrade and fits with no problems...I run an AdvanceAuto LT4 style on my car and it works great...

yeah i think it's been superceeded as it's listed for any LT1/4 vette at the store. I like the duralast unit better. Cheap I think too.

I had a Corvette Starter on my LT1 when I had it. It worked really well.

He won't necessarily have to do that if it's already done, just pull it off of the Car and bring it in.

When my starter went, I replaced it with one of those tiny/high-torque starters, that weigh under 10lbs. A SBC starter will fit too as long as you get the same flywheel tooth count. I figured since the stock starer was around $150 i might as well spend another 20 bucks and save 5-10lbs while I'm at it.

Fwiw I bought my starter off eBay the other day and it starts up my 12:1 compression just fine. I can't speak for endurance yet but 2 weeks and its going strong...

Oh and for your car they are only $70 brand new.

I think the lt4 starter has a different ratio for better cranking if I'm not mistaken...
