Default Hot Cam?

I was wondering about it's fitment. It says it fits 92-97 LT1's but in the picture of the cam it has the pin for the 95 and later style distributors. My 94 has the shaft driven distributor. Will it still work? I see a lot of guys with 93-94 cars that have the cam but it never crossed my mind. Any vid's would be cool of you guys running this cam. My car is all stock and I thought it would be a nice upgrade for what I'm wanting.

Do you have to grind off the pin? Does it come with the pin and the slot for the shaft? Just curious before I go and get it. I'm not to worried about headers yet. I want a set of kooks that are ceramic coated but that will have to wait a while.

The dowel pin is long to accomodate the later style opti's. All you need to do is take a small ball peen hammer, and gently tap on the dowel pin until it is at the desired depth that you need. When/if you swap cams out, just match it up to your stock cams dowel pin depth.

As far as I know, ALL LT1 cams come this way, but I could be wrong.

I actually used my stock pin in the new camshaft. Honestly though, I would never put a cam in running the stock manifolds. You won't get the cam's true power running the car through stock manifolds. Headers first bro, then the cam

I did my first cam swap bass-ackwards, lol. I did the comp 503 BEFORE doing headers and CAI. I only did it because at the time, I was on vacation for 2 weeks, and had all the free time in the world to do something very labor intensive. When I was finished, the car did pick up a nice bit of power, but every mod I did after that was an eye opener, lol. The headers made a HUGE difference, so did the tune and the CAI.

I'm sorry but to think someone would be looking into a cam before they have the supporting bolt on mods like "HEADERS" is a idiot...no offense man but listen to the feed back these guys give you. You gotta crawl before you walk man.

heck, you might want to put in a stall if you have an auto and headers before a cam.

yeah def worry about an exhaust that can support a cam in the future. or you can do it all at the same time. CAI, headers, cat back exhaust and a new cat or. no cat at all for that matter was #1 on my list. i also did 1.6 rockers and new valve springs. i plan on going with an LE cam when im ready. a real torquey **** with good midrange so i dont push my 150k mile short block to far past the stock rev limiter. dont wanna blow anything up to bad but the cam should work. but why bother with the hot cam ? for alittle more you could get something much sweeter to your style. just my .02

I already have a gmmg catback, and k&n. I was looking at the cam because I can get the hot cam kit cheap, but it won't be for long. My oil pan, timing cover, and intake need to be resealed so I thought now would be the perfect time even though I don't have the headers and stuff. I use my car as a daily driver. Not because I have to but because I enjoy driving it. I want something that produces a lot of power (350-400rwhp) and that my wife can still drive. No offense to the ladies but my wife likes to hit things. lol. My car is currently an auto, but all I need is a clutch to put my 6 spd in, so the few extra ponies from it will also be there once I get it in.

Hmm my car is putting down 350rwhp with the hotcam, but that's through a M6 and compression is bumped to 11:1. So yeah after the M6 swap and headers you will be sorta close to the 350rwhp goal. Probably 335ish?
