Default couple of header ?'s

I am installing a pair of mac midlengths on my 93 Trans Am. I have heard a few times that the Fel Pro 1406 gaskets dont work with these headers. Is this true? What gaskets are best to go with for these headers?
Also, what are you guys doing about the bolt on the front most passenger side. It originally held a bracket for the alternator so it was a bolt with threads which had a nut that held the brace for the alternator. A regular header bolt wont work. Can I just buy one new? Thanks.

That bracket is not necessary, neither is the top one that bolts to the intake manifold. Go ahead and use any header bolt.
Not sure on what gasket you need. I bought a pair of copper gaskets that had the option of using either of the front two or last two bolt holes on the heads for the headers, so it worked perfectly.

My alternator is held on by only the two brackets.

Ditch the alternator bracket off the headers but I would keep the one on the intake, the fel-pros were designed as a factory replacement and they are provisioned for stock manifolds which use the outer bolts on the head so you have to either punch a hole in the gasket or I used Mr. Gasket Ultra-Seal. I have used their copper gasket with less than perfect results but their steel impregnated Ultra-Seal is an awesome gasket with no trimming or punching of holes required.

Perceys Aluminum crush gaskets!!!

Kinda expensive but well worth it as they don't leak at all and are reusable.

Its an automatic thing. It changes every now and then. Right now I think if you type the words (without dashes):
s-r-t-4
f-t-w

You will get a dumdumdum instead.

Same things without dashes:

dumdumdumdum
dumdumdum

camaro used to be one of them too I think. I don't know who programs it, but it's there. There are probably several more examples that I am not aware of.

Sorry bout that for some reason I tried to type in the abreviation for (For The Win) and it put that in there automatically. Maybe a sight sensor or something.

I run the FelPro 1406 on a set of Hooker Long tubes, haven't had any issue. I also used regular ARP bolts, nothing fancy.

Your gasket should match the ports on your header flange. I use the 1406 which is a large d-port for a Brodix head, but it was the flange I used. The 1404 is the lt1 std d-port gasket. Some are square and some are round, depends on the mfg.

Quick Reply: couple of header ?'s
