I would have guessed it would have made a tad bit more...could be because of the shorty headers

It's the shorties. I made 335 on a much smaller cam and no ported heads. Went to long tubes and picked up to 345.

Definitely add some LT headers, CC 1.6 Promagnum NSA rr's, TF guideplates, and a nice catback or an electric cutout before the axle.

Doing all of the above will probably net you an additional 25 rwhp!

I wouldn't say "just" that, those are some major changes. But yes, I would think you have a lot left on the table with your current set up.

He'll need the guideplates to run the NSA rr's.

Easiest way to top 400 would be to throw a 50+ shot to it.
If not, $$$ comes into play...better heads.

Better porting, an electric waterpump, Longtubes, 1.6RR's, and better springs. I'm really surprised that he got the heads and cam done, yet didn't do all the important stuff when the heads are off like bigger valves/1.6RR's/hardened pushrods/LS7 lifters/and beehive springs.

yea he bought them from a local shop & just slamed them on with only springs no RR or other valve train parts.
Im really surprised of the result i've seen only Cam LT1s here with better numbers.

340 is nothing to snuff at for a cam-only LT1, that is a good number, just not with that cam. It need to be done right.

The problem is more than likely that cam. Even with head work it is absolutely enormous on stock heads, even after some port work. Extensive port work is required. Your 58mm throttle body isn't giving you a gain. And I would not finger out the shorties as your primary concern. I would estimate something is not functioning properly, or your tune is not a good one. Some of the others are suggesting to do more bolt on's, i would hold off until you figure out your current issue(s). your car should be making more, no one can argue that...
