Most of the reman units have enough of a file for TC to grab on to.

SHE LIVES!!!!! picked up the computer from Checker today, $109 + 120 refundable core charge. Droped in easily, took my current tunercats tune with no issues at all and fired up like a charm. Although i had my wife go disconect the battery last night (i was still a little messed up from surgery) and it appears that the threads got stripped on the pos side of the battery so looks like i have to get a new battery now, grrrrrr!!! but the important part is the car lives, and it was a re-man Delco computer

Make sure you check the battery cable bolt. I have seen where people thought their battery was stripped but they didn't look the first time. Then look again and it is just the bolt.

yea, it is the bolt, easy cheap fix i guess, i am so stoked that the new computer worked, and yea i know i probably could have found one for $50 somewhere but for $109, being in stock, and having a warentee i think it's a great deal.

It is worth it. If it happens again you just go swap it out.

Thats good news, only I wonder why way back when I tried to upload files into two separate PCM's that were bought at Autozone it would not let me, I had to get them flashed first at the dealership, same thing happened with an LS1 PCM.

What is a 'Checkers', is that like an Autozone equivalent? If its a scrap yard PCM maybe thats it Moe...Im not familiar with what kind of business Checkers is.

When I needed one I bought one off of ebay for $65 to the door, had to have Moe here tune it for my setup...still running like a champ. Now that ya'll mention it I prolly need to look for a backup!

Depending on what state you are in Checker is also called Shucks or Kragen, and they have just been purchaced by O'Rileys. Great shop, like an autozone but better, i have purchaced damn near every nut, bolt, wire, everything for my 72 camaro (except the m22) from Checkers. I dont know why Moe had troubles with the others all i know is this one worked perfectly and was a good price. Nice find on the ebay for $65, i only saw 2 and they were $139 plus shipping
