Default LT1 trouble again!

Alright so I've got the car actually running .. sort of. The car would start and then 2 mins later it would just die. After a few starts and it doing this its decided it doesn't want to start at all. I hadn't started it for about 5 days and decided today I'll see if it starts, fuel pump primed, turn of the key and instant start. It ran for about 2 minutes then died. I started it right back up and did the same thing. Now the damn thing will not start again. also when it's idling every so often it will backfire, not to bad but still backfire... I'm baffled.. anyone have any suggestions? so far on the other forums I"ve heard that its an icm issue or the opti but I thought I would get yall's thoughts on it?

I would check the ICM like mentioned, then the Coil. Most of the time they crap out when they get hot.

I just went thru the SAME THING.. I wasted money on a new ICM and a new Coil(prolly needed new ones anyways) but it continued to do it.
It was actually the ICM pigtail..the prongs were bent.. I had to bend them back to get better contact...
after it died I would unplug the pigtail then plug it back in and it would start back up..

Just something to check out..

I had this problem, alot. Every time it was the OPTI. Let me ask a couple questions. Do you spin 6500+ rpm often? Do you make pretty decent power? I had the setup in my sig, everytime I would spin 6800+ while running the 1/4 on spray 50 miles later opti would die. Went to a MSD never had another problem. Went through 3-4 stock replacements. I got videos still I think of mine screwing up.

Think its getting hot enough in 2 mins to have heat failure?

I don't see why not. The heads are the hottest part of the engine.

As stated, check your ICM and coil, do the ICM cooling mod, check all pigtails associated with the ignition system including the opti harness.
Where is your fuel pressure at when the car is acting up?
If none of the above reveals the culprit, then it could be your opti.

Mine would run good for the first 2-3 mins, then gradually would really screw up.
