Default Out of the box heads

Well tax time has come and heads are on my list. Ive been drooling over sending the heads off my 93 to Lloyd Elliott for his LE2 package with LE3 cam but have been pondering just getting the LE3 heads as well or the AI 200cc package. I was just talking it over with my old man, and searching this forum like crazy for a while now. Cant seem to find the info im looking for.

Anyways, is there any out of the box/off the shelf heads built by trick flow or AFR or someone else that perform as well as these ported stockers? Im shooting for 420-450rwhp thru an m6. but i would like to have a head that in a few years i could send to one of these guys to port even more. Kinda just want a head that i can grow with in the future. Ive looked around for some time now and cant really get a direct answer...thanks

AFR 210 or 227 out of the box will deliver that. You can get them cheaper than what they say on their website also.

You need to run a few special parts. A friend of mine runs them with a stud girdle which was $200 or so. It doesn't see too much street time. If you run them on the street you should get offset shaft mount rockers which are very pricey ( $800+), then of course offset lifters which are $500+. I heard you could run them on the street with just the girdle but the intake rocker would be cocked a little and may require adjustment after a while. My friend doesn't have any issues that I know of though, although it doesn't see a lot of street use.

Oh, he runs 9.60's btw in a 3600lb IROC.

oh definetly...i know that ported stockers would be awesome now, but in a year or two i would want to upgrade from that and not have to purchase new heads and then have those ported

The 210cc heads are available in either standard or spread port exhaust. Straight plug versions and down nozzle provisions are special order only. No special parts are required

The Darts have been tested in as cast form, worked as well as slightly worked LT1 iron heads.

The ported stockers are capable of more than most will ever ask, so how much more do you really want? Solidly capable of 10s NA in a true street car.

Check with T.E.A. but I would run AFR heads for sure.

Are you planning on 450RWHP with heads/cam?

If I was buying heads right now I would look into the Trick Flow 21* by AI.
