Default 1st GEN headers on an LT1

I know I can get plenty of first gen smallblock headers dirt cheap but the LT1 headers are a bit on the high-side (on a budget sucks). Could I use 1st GEN headers on my LT1 Camaro? I dont care about it bolting up to a y-pipe i'm gonna be running open headers with extension

Gen 1 stuff fits the heads just fine, hassle may be fitting the chassis.

it's gonna be a hassle imo, but if you figure out a set of gen 1 headers that will clear the 93-02 fbody chassis you'll definately be onto something

if you really want to keep it budget I'm pretty sure pacesetter lt's can be had for around $250 last I checked, not much more than your average gen 1 sbc header

I know some big-block ones that fit pretty damn close for those thinking about a BBC swap.

For the LT1 I am sure those block-hugger or street rod type headers will fit, but then you'll have to fab up some sort of piping to get the tubes down around the bottom of the car. As far as long tubes go, nothing i've ever seen fits. Pacesetter painted headers are kinda cheap ya know. How much of a budget are you on?

Dont you think with the amount of time trying to find a set of headers to try to make fit a set of 260.00 pacesetters would be the easiest economical way, headers do not have to be coated that is another expense not needed.
just a thought

lt1's have D port exhaust, and sbc do not, so I think you'll have a problem getting them to seal and not leak? Just a thought.
