Default Stock clutch durability

Hey guys,

If i decide to put a CC503 in to my car, what are the chances my stock clutch will hold for a decent amount of time? I've got pretty much all the bolt-ons, and im expecting to be around 350rwhp with the cc503 (pretty average.)

My clutch is not the original one (i've got 90k miles) so it's probably got maybe 20k miles on it. I've heard stories of having 400rwhp with the stock clutch, and then ive also heard stories that the stock clutch cant even hold the stock power.

what's the deal?

I had problems with a stock replacement clutch at the track with DR's.
I replaced it last July and had plenty of material just could not hold up.

I've got a CC503 with a brand new stock clutch. So far it's holding fine. Normal driving sould wear the same...the added power + constant launches with DR's and you can expect to shorten the life quite a bit.

I had a brand new stock vatozone clutch and it held my cc306 easily on the street. It also held it on the track even with drag radials. Now when I put the 80 shot to it at the track it slipped the whole way and still ran an 8 flat. I put a 150 shot and ha. Now I have a Ram Powergrip HD. So yea I think the stock clutch is fine for street use and occasional track use if it is in good condition.

If your worried about it change it. If it is holding up then run it till you have problems. But it sucks when your at the track and it slips, and at the track is were is will most likely happen.

I had a stock clutch take me into the low 11s @ 120 but I would only leave at 2200 then floor it to active the n20. It would just blow off the tires if I left hard out of the hole on 255 16 BFG and 246 16Nitto DRS so I would baby it untill it got going.
That clutch never slipped, the motor and the trans went b4 the clutch and 10 bolt.

I have felt the stock clutch in my current car slip a bit at the track on Nitto 315 DRs
while the car was stock, but I was leaving at 4k and hooking

I guess it all depends on luck and how you drive the car.

you should be fine with a stock clutch. My head/cam stock bottom end made 350hp/351tq in a car weighing 4400 lbs. "Stock" clutch held fine.

383...another story, drove right through the stock clutch.

As noted if you dump it at high RPM's and race with a tire it will wear out faster...but that is a given.
