Default Help me to keep from burning electrical wires after header install

I got my Mac-mids installed and they fit great except on the drivers side where the oil pressure sending unit plugs in I think, the plug thats covered by a long rubber tube that slips over it, that thing is resting on the header. Its barely touching it. Also on the passenger side, there is a large bundle of wires that runs down the passenger side strut tower and goes under the headers and they are pretty close to the header pipe, they are in a wire loom. 1 wire was a ground on the block and I dont know where the others went. What did you guys do to protect these wires? I see no way of zip tying them out of the way. I was thinking about slipping something over the batch of wires like an aluminum pipe that way if they do bump into the header it wont burn the wires. Maybe putting some header wrap in that one spot also. This is on a 93 LT1.

Yeah, you pretty much want to keep those wires away from the headers, they run your
starter and O2 sensors. I use a flexible heat-sheild wrap designed for plug wires.
Don't wrap the headers, wrap the wires.

Hey man I ran the Macs and about the only way you are gonna get away from burning the wires is to run them over the valve covers. I went through 2 set of wires when I ran the Macs. Those headers sit real close to the block so it can be a real PITA to get them to stay clear of the headers.

Run your plug wires over the top of your valve covers.

I have hooker LTs on my 93Z. For the oil sending unit you have these options. 1. Buy a threaded nipple, and one 90* female/ female elbo. Threat the nipple in one end of the elbo and the sending unit into the other end. Then thread the nipple end into the block. This is what I did and I have tons of room now. I also ditched that rubber sleeve. 2. relocate the sending unit to the top-rear deck of the block, like 94+ models have them. I tried this first, but could not for the life of me get the 3/8's plug out of the block.

As for the wires on the pass side, as long as they still have that silver looking heat wrap on them you should be fine. Mine have been toutching for years with no issues. You could slice into them, add some length and re rought them but I would just let'em ride. Should be fine.
