lt1 running low 11's???

The reality is there are all kinds of LT1's that are complete turds compared to what little needs to be done to a LS1 for vast improvement over the LT1. No one can deny this.
This argument is as old and can be as annoying as Chevy vs. Ford diatribe.

This isn't about the LS1 being the better motor. It's about how the LT1 is incapable of running low 11s.

yes its pretty annoying..and old.. so why did you bring it up? we dont need another LT1 vs LS1 thread, we were all just havin fun with this guy

bolt on only record is 11.48 prolly somewhere around 2800lbs throw a 150 shot on top of that.... 10's easily.... im guessing this guys car isnt a tin can so say he weighs 3200lbs and runs 12.0's - 12.4's bolt on only add a 150 shot and u got low 11's
so yes very possible with the right setup

OK my thoughts on the ls1 vs lt1 crap. My lt1 car cost me 3000 I have about 1000 into it now $4000 total my best time so far 13.48 @ 102 I know need to update sig but won't yet because that time was made with my serp breaking off the line so no acc. running. OK when I was looking to buy a f-body I searched everywhere for a Ls1 6500 to 9000 average price range and most of them where high mileage beat to hell cars. I found my car bone stock and payed cash no financing. I could of made payments 300 to 400 a month or buy a LT1 and put 300 to 400 a month in mods. Hopefully when I get to 6500 in mods I will have one kick *** car thats fun to drive and can put down some respectable ET's

No one really knows why this individual almost got into a fight. Perhaps the LT1 owner was being an obnoxious douche in trying to prove a point.
Anyway... continue having fun...

Very possible. I seen a 96z on a 125hp shot with nothing but a muffler and no accessories,oh I forgot,it also had a home made cai go 11.60 on 26x10.5x16 et streets. Now,as far as the lsx vs ltx debate ........... my .02 is that id rather build a import before a lsx car. Lt-wons are the only way to go. True story: back in 2000,I traded in my 93 mustang lx on a 98 m6 t/a (paid the remaining balance in cash). I had the car 2 weeks,I cruised it to a buddys house to show it off when I noticed my buddy had just bought a 97 t/a. I drove his car for 10mins,went back and got in mine, drove to the "toy store"(was a dealership at that time)in schaumburg ill and traded it in on a 97 chameleon a4 formula. That one only lasted 3 months though, got totaled. Thus being why I bought the 96 I own now. Lt1 all day, everyday.

I'm curious what made you do that. Was it the tq / powerband of the LT engine vs the LS1? I know the LS1's kinda make power like a 2 stroke lol.

Dear OP
here is a bolt on, heads n cam LT1 running 10's. ON MOTOR, WITH A 6 SPEED.
He hands out liberal amounts of *** kicking to LS1's, mopars, mustangs etc.
A couple vids for your enjoyment.

Thing is there are a LOT of badly done cars out there of all sorts, LT1s and LS1s and since those are the overwhelming majority people think that is what can be expected.
I have taken a few sprayed LS cars at the local track with my NA whale, should a bolton+spray LS car walk all over mine, hell yeah, but when you think granatelli/hypertech/B&M/tci, etc are good parts you endup with a turd that can't touch an NA LT1.

Point being is those LT1's that do run even in the 11's are far and few between when you go to your local track. Those that do run 11's are usually heavily modified and are not just running a stock engine with spray. Most anyone who has a f-body anymore owns a LS1, thus they do not pay attention what LT1's are doing. I can understand why this person is skeptical. There really aren't a whole lot of real life examples out there to sway opinions.
Personally, full bolt-ons only got me to 12.8s...but my engine was tired and old with over 140k of abuse on the clock. It was also full weight DD with salad shooters on all four corners. I doubt a 150 shot would have turned any stellar results...or even survived for that matter . I still know its possible with the right combo though.

It was the styling and the down low grunt it had that sold me. My ls1 t/a went 13.6@103 on drag radials,my lt1 went 13.83@101 with street tires and 2.0 60ft. The lt1 just felt better to me in so many ways. I never ran my lt1 on a drag radial when it was stock to see if it would match et. Lt1s have the in ur face kinda power, the lsx is a gradual build, not very exciting until 3500rpm or so. That to me is boring.

damn man. thats no good. i spent 2500 and my car turned 13.1 on shitty street tires. easily with the setup i have + a tire ill be a low 12 car. screw all the bolt on crap. just throw a 383/396 stroker into an LT1 and your car will be ridiculous. my setup is literally a 383 stroker with a LT4 cam, Pacesetter mid tubes, stock heads, stock intake, stock TB and the 13.1 was with a V6 peg leg rear. as you can see in my sign i did a lil swapping. but with tires and my 342 (i believe) posi low 12s here i come. save yourself some time and stroke it!!!!
