Default 93 formula fuel problems

well i was mainly wondering how can you for sure tell your fuel pump or fuel relays are bad because i figured out wut i thought was tranny problems is because my fuel pump is bad. the engine back fired and lost power and showed the same symptoms of when a fuel pump goes bad. (ive been driving a vehicle when this has happened) any input would b helpful. thanks

+1. Reading the fuel pressure is the only way to tell if the pump is going bad. The fuel pump relay will work or it won't, if it's bad, you'll have no pressure at all and the pump won't come on.

And to make sure it's a relay, you can swap with another one (make sure they're the same), or just hotwire the pump at the relay (bypass the relay).

39 key on, ignition off. ~41psi idle with vacuum line ON and about 43.5 idle with vacuum line OFF (of the regulator that is).
