Well IMHO, the ss/sc can get pretty nice. I don't know if any of you all keep up with the cobalt world, but my buddy stu has the fastest stock blower cobalt w/o nitrous. His car ran a 12.75 at 108.9, his race name is hatrickstu

Anyway, back on topic....
If I had the challenge that began this thread I would put up $100.00 to his $1.00. If he won't race at a drag strip heads-up he is not worth messing with.
Good Luck,
Daren

To all the Iowa guys, post me a PM and I will keep in touch with you and invite you to one of the Hooter's Cruise Nights here in WDM some Monday come late spring-summer time
I am not talking smack about the car itself at all.. The engine has major potential, he just thinks it is faster than what it really is.. He is running a 2.9 pulley right now and might not/doesn't want to swap to 60lb injectors, meaning he can't bump up the boost with the nice 2.75" pulleys they offer.
The Cobalt SS is not a mistake at all. I never said that, but to say an LT1 was GM's mistake is by far THE DUMBEST thing I have ever heard come out of anybody's mouth, besides my 18 year old dumbass friend asking me how to spell Des Moines in a text message(he's lived here his whole life)
I LOVE the new turbocharged models... GOOD power from the factory and you can easily pick one up brand new from a local dealership here for about $20k.
My dad has a 2007 Solstice GXP and that car beat this Cobalt on Stage 2 when it was stock. Now it has the new GMPP ECU that I bought my dad for his bday. $650 + tune, keeps the warranty, and gains from 260hp to 290hp and 260tq to 340tq.. NOW I wanna see them run
Cobalts are still an amazing performance value, like ours car were in their day, and like GM made them to be. I am a die hard GM fan and my family has owned all GM cars with the exception of my DD Eclipse (was originally my mom's and she wanted a "cute" car).. lol
I am aware that Cobalt's are a good value and can be made faster with traction mods.. but all Jack is getting is a strut bar and a short throw.. sorry but thats not going to do ALOT
I believe your 14.0 time, PNYKLR-TA, and I believe that 12's are fully capable with traction mods.. but the issue is that he isnt getting those mods and he is still delaying the inevitable...
From old to new, GM FTMFW!!!

and that time was my buddies time, SS/SC, for his stage 2, and yea they are very capable of 12's agree'd they just need some beefy axels and alot of torque management stuff IE poly bushings and stuff.

i dont understand why you are all hating so much on the cobalts, i mean its a GM vehicle for christ sakes, and i wouldn't take them lightly especially from a roll, those things move out pretty damn well, just tough for them to find any sort of traction when their peak TQ is at like 1800 rpms and is WWD [wrong wheel drive ]
plus my buddies car gets 40mpg on the highway at 65-70mph. and still has over 300hp and for a 2900lb car with the driver thats not too shabby. and he still has a warranty!

If the LT1 beats the Cobalt....
"I didn't get traction, my huge wing must not be giving me enough down force, better go bigger, I'll smoke you next time"
"You have a v8, I only have a 4 banger, so I'd say you didn't win, we're even"
etc.
BUT if the Cobalt beat the LT1...
"HA, I told you that Chevy sucks"
"Screw your v8 muscle"
"All American cars suck and are too heavy to be fast"
"My FI 4 cylinder owns ALL!"
etc
etc
etc

I've owned 3 lt1 and beat the crap out of them. Destroyed clutches, rear ends, transmissions.......but the engine still runs like a rapped ape. First of all cobalts are for ****** and basically anything that is fwd is not worth my time. Tell him to trade his sister's car in and buy something that can hit 155mph bone stock (electronic limiter). I wouldn't even waste a run down the track for his pos!!!
