cc503 is said to be a smog passer and def one of the best with stock heads

Why are you worring about emissions? There's no emissions testing in IL.

Two fantastic cams that will pass emisions are the Lingenfelter 211/219 .533/.560 on a 112 and the 219/219 .560/.560 also on a 112...I ran the 211/219 in my 383 for years and went 11.70-90s with that cam...It passed MDs sniffer test all the time...

isn't the split duration LP cam more optimal for the LT1 setup though? I heard the dual pattern is more geared towards a TPI setup

Yeah, the single pattern is more for the TPI Motors.

In terms of off-the shelf, the GM846 and the cc503 are the largest camshafts that you can run and still pass emissions, with a tune of course.
