Default Locar Flex oil dipstick question?

I was finally getting to the cam install and gathered all my parts and thought while I'm at it install my locar dipstick. I open the package and find that the instructions were glued to the plastic and ripped them to unreadable shape.
Now for the question- it seems the dipstick tube has no stop or ridge at the bottem like the original. It's flex tube to steel tube with knurles. How do you know how far to install it
it's a LoCar 5001 dipstick for 80-up passenger side SBC

it goes in all the way like the second picture shows. I just cut off about 3-4 inches of the tube that goes into the block, they give you a lot so that you can cut it where you need it to be.

does it matter if you don't cut the steel tubing?
I will be installing it with the oil pan on in the car.

I installed mine just as it came and bottomed it out to the shiny coupler in the pic above. I didn't have any issue with it and works fine except for having to wait for the engine to cool to check the oil level.

Good luck adding fluid to your tranny, lol. I have one of those dipsticks and I swear you need the worlds smallest funnel to add any fluid. I swapped converters in my car and it took about an hour to add a few quarts.
