Default Cam information for a 383 LT1

I need to put a new cam in this motor.......I need some input,do I need a small base circle cam.
Second is there anybody who had good experence with a specific cam.

My car was an LT1 350 with a Joe Overton cam 232/236 565/548 with a 108 centerline.....the motor made 550 hp before. I would like to make about 600 hp ,with this 383 motor now.
Any information would br appreciated.

Note this car will be for drag racing only, and is still fuel injected.....accel DFI

^For a cam?!

I would talk to Phil at Advanced Induction, Isky, Cam Motion, etc. I would go to AI myself, they have many very quick running LT1s.

As far as small base circle or not, you are going to find out when you put the cam in basically. You could get a normal cam and put it in and it may clear, or it may not. You can get a small base circle cam and it will likely most definitely clear. I would just get the small base circle cam the first time around to avoid the chance of problem. You will need longer pushrods with the small base circle cam.

^I'm sure he means flywheel

^For a cam?!
I thought he was asking if he needed a small base circle cam and eagle would be able to tell him if he does with their crank/rods

Yeah give Bert a call if you want to be a guinea pig for some new cam specs that may or may not work, and maybe some setup instructions that will ruin your motor.

It wasn't a good day at the track..........really hot.....and the motor was really rich....black smoke.didn't have a program to do any tuning.
122 mph with a 1.65 60ft........should be 1.50's
550 less 20% 440 rear hp......? somewhere around there anyways.
