I had an '85 Firebird SE. It was back to the dealer the day after I picked it up, for stuff that was wrong!! And it continued that way for about a year, until they finally got all the bugs worked out of it. After that, the car was really good for 9 years.
One time, I told the service manager at the dealership, who I'd gotten to know REALLY well, that I was going to "Lemon Law" the car. He says, "I wouldn't blame you if you did, but then we might have to do this all over again with another car"!!!

I can't believe (although I'm too lazy to google) the factory curb weight of a 3rd gen F-body was less than any of the 4th gen models. In high school we use to tear up my buddy's father's '87 GTA and that car weighed a ton, and it was all metal. I remember how disgusted (at the time) we were when we saw the new 4th gen F-bodies at the Toronto auto show and realised they were mostly plastic. Then another buddy of ours got a '94 Z28 which we raped but felt so much lighter. That's really weird if its true the 3rd gens were lighter.
(How could my buddy's have "felt" so damn heavy... well, maybe because his 350 4-bbl did NOT even put out 200 hp!!! LOL)
LAME!!!!

As for as the aerodynamics, again its very misleading to look at a 4th gen and think that its more aerodynamic...you're not trying to "cut" the air you're trying to move through it if that makes since. I by no means am an expert but one nice thing to look at...how many 3rd gen top speed cars have you seen...a few right? How many 4th gens have you seen?? None that i can remember off the top of my head.

He might have had just a normal sus package, maybe had crappy tires along with being under powerd
Also the steering ratio could have been worse

But then again just getting in opening and closing the doors makes me realise my '95 Z28's doors weigh half as much as those GTA doors. Meh...

If my experience is any indication, fourth gens were a huge leap forward in quality in comparison to the 3rd gens.
And just to keep it on topic, GMMG is the cat's a$$.
