Default LT1 Newbie, have ??'s

I have been into LS1's for a while, and I decided to buy a Transam LT1 A4.
I have a couple of questions for you all. Well first of all, let me say that the car has some mods already. It has an Ebay Cai, PS Longtubes, ory, and cutout with stock catback.
It has run a best of an 8.80@80.5 with a 2.01 60ft.
My goal with this car as of now its to run an 8.40 without the help of a stall, heads or cam/nitrous. Is there any other mods that I can do to help me reach this goal? Will a tune help at this point? I was thinking pcm4less.

Well with that out the way, I also have another question. When I try to crank the car, it takes like 3 or 4 times to crank. Someone told me to try and turn the key to on and off position a few times before starting the car, to build up some fuel. But that didn't help. Has anybody had this problem? Also a couple of days ago, the BRAKE light came on and never went off? I do notice like the brake pads need changing, can that be causing that?
Sorry for the long post guys, hopefully someone can guide me in the right direction into fixing this problems.

I would maybe add a ewp but that pretty much covers things. If you did all the mods listed it should knock off .5 if you can cut a better 60ft. Than once you get a stall you will really be moving.

Thats cool, I already have tires. Will a ported manifold and ported TB to 52mm gain any power??

Rockers and Gears will probably get you there with a DR.

I always waited for the fuel pump to prime after i turned key to run position before cranking...
