Default Bad Rings?

How would you know if youve ruined the piston rings in your motor.

My car had some bad 02s and ran exxecively rich for a while. I mean bad to.

Got some new ones and ran great for a while, now its starting to get really rich again, and getting bad gas mileage again.

The other day I hopped on the highway and hit it in 2nd and a buddy of mine said I had a puff of blue smoke out of the exhuast. Never had this before so It got me a little worried.

How would I tell If I ruined some rings?

Car seems to run great outside of some idling issues when shes cold (expected with a mail order tune on a big cam). Also when its cold and you hop in and try and take off right away, it will miss and hesitate for a few seconds. Pretty much the first time you get the rpms up though its fine.

I'd perform a compression and leakdown test.

i think blue tinted smoke means that oil is getting into the combustion which means that your valve seals might be going bad. someone should chime in and clarify that

I thought I might have tore a valve seal when doing the cam swap, so that was my intial guess and figured Id just tear into it as soon as I got the blazer running, then after I thought about how rich it was running for a while (unburnt gas out the exhaust) I started to worry about the rings.

And it just started running rich again out of nowhere. I really need to get it dynotuned. \

Luckily its about to be back up on jackstands and not seeing DD duty anymore.

Yea you might a few problems going on there. Do a compression test for sure as well as scan the car and see if you are throwing any codes.

No codes being thrown, I have a solus at the shop, already scanned it.

Gonna compression test it as soon as I can.

With the cam Im gonna have a different dynamic compression than stock. So theres no telling what psi reading I should get on a compression test, right?

I guess Ill just be testing for how the cylinders compare to each other

Yeah, consistency is the important thing.
