What is on my site is correct (you think it would be wrong? ). Dots together is #6 TDC. Really, you don't care what cylinder is at TDC-just line up the dots.

You line up the timing gear dots, period. Put the timing cover on. The splined shaft for the opti only goes on 1 way. That way the distributor is perfect in relation to the cam, and as long as you have the wires on the opti correctly, you are good to go.

Dot to dot is #6 on an LT1. That much is absolutely certain. Both dots at 12 o'clock is #1. The crank and pistons are at the same position for both, so it does not care. It is the phasing of the cam (and how the lobes are machined) that makes it 1 or 6.
