Dont know if there the same as a LS1 but my buddy has a 02 T/A and one night out driving the motor started to make a squeaking noise and then just froze. after rebuilding another block the something happen. turns out the first motor was still good. one of the bolts in the trans was backing out against the fly wheel first just making a noise and the just stopping the motor from turning lol sucks for him but he did get a8.0 iron block and a bigger build out of it. my point recheck all the bolts and i only read the first page here so dont know if you figured it all out yet lol

Turned out to be a bent push rod at a 45 angle. can not find any other damage. I had the same exact sound as the video so check the push rods

Well we figured it out. It was the flywheel after all. The inside of it was cracked bad, but was hidden to the naked eye. You had to actually look for it to know if it was cracked or not. So we put a new flywheel on it and no more rattling!! :woohoo:

The motor was pulled. Had to buy new headgasket's twice, bought a new oil pump, and bought other gaskets as stated plus fluids. Wasted a lot of money on something very easy. . I didnt spend it though. But i did spend 300$ to get the heads fixed plus 200 in gaskets and fluids on the 1st head removal...

I would have to agree with this too, i just looked at a really nice 01 Z28 M6 car, it only has 94000 on it, he fired it up & there is a rattling just under the intake, sounds like its comming from the cam/timing chain area, its mainly at idle, but as the RPMs are raised, it goes away, but it still doesn't sound like a noise that should be ignored, the oil pressure is rock solid, but it was enough to make me go
