What's your budget?
If money was no option, I imagine it would be hard to beat ported AFR's and a custom grind cam.
Don't know what your race weight it, but weight reduction always helps.
What gear, stall (if auto), and tires are you running?
What size shot were you using with that 10.79 run?

If you had milled stock heads, LT4 hot cam, and spray and you ran a 10.79, ported stockers, beefy cam, and upped shot will definitely drop your ET by .79 (assuming you can keep traction).

Here's what you do.

$2000 AI heads/cam.
$1500 for a new converter (at least 3500) and new gears (at least 3.73s).

That, plus a 200 shot, all bolt-ons, sticky tires, headers, etc., could potentially put you deep into the 10s.

Lloyd and Ai told me that aftermarket heads are hard to get the compression ratio back up without a new lower end.

AI would prob be your best bet if you are shooting for low 10's or 9's

All the more reason to go with AI/LE's ported stock castings!

problem is though without a core to send them i think its a $600 charge. if you didnt need a stall id say go with a set of trickflows but u said youd have compression problems. of course you can always find stock heads to send in for less then $600

If you have a stock short block, you do not have many options. On average, we see 100-130hp gains with our 200cc CNC'd GM casting, a daily drivable HR, and 11:1 compression. Naturally, that assumes proper installation, adjustment, and tuning. That kind of gain coupled with the highest quality machine work, perfectly consistent ports (read: potential), and quality components represent a value that is difficult to compete with.

Your car sounds like this gentleman's setup with a little more n2o. His ET was reduced by over a second swapping to our complete top-end. Keep in mind, any time you add large amounts of power to a finely adjusted setup you will usually need to do some re-adjusting before you run at full potential.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...na-9s-n2o.html

If you decide to have your stock heads cut, we would advise you to seek out an un-machined set. The deck serves as a reference plane for machining. If your castings were milled a minor amount then they would likely be fine. In any case, if you send them in, please write on them in sharpie what has been done to them previously.

If you have more to spend, our CNC'd packages w/ the new 21deg TFS casting would be a nice step up. It does not appear that we will have castings to machine until end of April however.

Thanks for the interest, guys.
