Default a little advice please.

I got my engine in my car and running just the other day. I got a tune for 24# injectors, cai, and lt's. It runs fine but has a slight hesitation in third at lower rpm's. Probubly in all the gears but it's most noticable in third. Does anyone know what might cause thgis? I have new o2 sensors also so it's not them. Could the comp be "learning" still?

did u get your opti wet or moist while doing any of this? id check your plugs and wires first and eliminate the small and simple things then id check the opti.

id prefere if u first change ur fuel filter it might be cloged or something, if thats did not solve the problem, check ur ignition system as Black93_F said, at first replace ur plug wires and take it from there,,,

chip did not get moist or anything. Plugs and wires are all brand new. Just finished putting on new plugs, wires, water pump, pangasket, intake man gasket, headers, poly tranny and motor mounts, rebuilt the opti with msd, wheels and tires. Tons more but i cant remember, pretty hunover from st. patty's lol.

Check your fuel pressure, change your fuel filter as mentioned above, its maintenance.

Check to see if any plug wires are arching to the headers. (check at night)

Hook up a vacuum gauge to a port on the intake and see what you are pulling.

since uve checked that then i would prolly check the fuel filter like stated above and if its fine then get a fuel pressure gauge and see if your pressure is low.

if fuel pressure is low, it might be either from the filter or the Fuel Pressure Regulator ,,or maybe even the fuel pump

Also, it only does it at lower rpm's, especially when you just cruising. I was going about 70 today and in 6th gear, i gave it some gas and it seemed to pop and struggle really bad. Could it be the rebuilt opti? I used dialectric compound on all the plug wires at the opti and the plug. Could it be a flaw in the tune?

To check for an intake leak? I just put a intake manifold gasket in too.

To check for an air/vacuum leak anywhere.

I had a coolant leak, antifreeze was leaking from the top heater hose on the water pump. I fixed it and poured water over the engine up front. Could that have done it? It's getting worse fast.

You do know that your distributor is right there in front of the engine, behind the water pump...

I can't tell you with any certainty that it caused any harm, but it's definitely a bad bad idea...

Yes i know where it is. I just built the thing, I know it was a bad bad idea, but there was antifreeze all over the place so i really needed to. The opti is a 100k mile with a new msd cap and rotor. It was fine before i took it out.

Go down the lis to the "check it out" thread. Thats mine

I guess you'll know to use rags and simple green next time. Good luck with the opti replacement. I posted on your other thread. That is a real genuine opti.

Do you think thats what i need to do? I think thats the route i will go, because of the new wires and plugs. I still need to check fuel pressure, but the fuel pump is new along with the filter.

Check everything, fuel, spark, and air.

Have you heard of spark hopping to a header even if dialectric compound was used?

I've seen spark jump to headers with old wires, but not just because dielectric grease was used. That promotes a good connection to the plugs.
