Default head question

My engine builder is telling me there is a little hose that connectes the back for the heads together, something to do with coolant. he really didnt explain it very well or maybe i just didnt understand it very well either way does anyone know what he is talking about and if so where in the hell would i find that besides a junk yard who never has what im looking for ???

It is called either the coolant crossover pipe or the steam pipe. It connects the back of the heads and runs toward the passenger side of the intake and connects to the radiator via a rubber tube (stock it runs through the TB, but if you did the TB bypass, it will go straight from the rad to the steam pipe). Older years had a smaller tube that ended near the back of the intake, the newer engines had a longer one that ended towards the front of the intake near the TB. It serves the purpose of equalizing the pressure and heat of the coolant in the heads, preventing the formation of hot spots. You can get a new one from a junkyard or you can get the whole pipe from the dealership.

New from the dealer is a good bet as it comes with new banjo bolts and seals for a reasonable price.

i hope so.
i need a damn harmonic balancer w/ hub they want $300 bucks for one. I cant find it anywhere and really dont want to spend that on a GM part that my damn brother lost.

I haven't done any research on them, but you might look into the Professional Products LT1 balancers. They come with a new hub. They offer both a budget and a higher end one. That's all I really know about it though.

i was just reading on ls1.com about them and heard nothing but horror stories. I think im going to stay away from them and look else where.
