i guess ill put the aftermarket coil back on when i get my otvc wires, the wires are new but not the good ones. just standard replacements

Get some MSD 8.5mm wires.

I am running an MSD Opti, HVC Pro Power coil, with a Digital 7 and have had zero problems.

MSD 8.5mm wires are a lower resistance and need a more powerful arc to "fill" the wires.

i am going to go out on a limb here.

i say you cant have too much spark as long as the whole system is up to par. if you upgrade to a huge coil and have wires that are falling apart you will arc on the engine.

same as building an engine, you have to eliminate the weakest link and build it as a system.

oh. and i do like my MSD 8.5mm wires.

I did alil research awhile ago when my genuine GM opti crapped out with only 3,000 miles on it and 100 miles or so after installing a msd 6al box and coil. While I'm not entirely sure the aftermarket components caused its failure, I did however find a few others out there that said the extra spark zapped their opti's shortly after the install of aftermarket ignition components.
