that cam definatelyrequires that amount of stall minimum, there are a few that use 4000 stall with that cam..if you look at a few cam manufactuers they have "duration @ .050" matched with the minimum "stall speed recommended" that cam is an old design but it sure does work well!

What happens if you run the cc306 and have just the stock stall, then what are the out comes? I don't have a stall for my cc306 although I have yet to fire it up! Is it necessary

Expect sluggish and poor drivability at the lower RPMs. IMO, it's a necessity!

It is absolutely imperative to match the cam, converter and rear gear...From what I know about the CC306 the 3500 should be ok...The type/brand of converter also effects drivability...Don't skimp here...I use Vigs...Yanks are good too...Look for a good efficient converter...FWIW I run a Vig 4000 with a cam smaller than the 306...Matched with 4.10s and 28" tire...hang on!!!

First off I'm not trying to steal a thread just getting advice as well while we are on the same topic, I have 3:73 gears with a stock stall, So I need at least 3600 stall, what is stock by the way??? Anyone got one for sale???? Apparently I'm going to need one. Damn more money to drop in to this piggy bank!!!

Comp cam site recommends 2500+ so what would be the perfect stall?

i bought a ptc converter costa pretty good amount. From what i drove of my cc306 3500 stall until the opti died yesterday it is good all around at low rpms and excellent at high rpm's

For a cc306 3500 works great. Unlike most giving advise I actually have a 355 with cc306 and a 3500 stall in my own car. If you run a lower stall you will get a ton of cam surge at low rpm. You also need at least 3.73 rear gears. This setup works very well if properly tuned.

I have cc503 with vig 3500 & 3.73's I am very happy with. Don't forget a trans cooler to the list.

Any recommendations on where to buy one of these. I checked ebay and there are a lot of them from brand names, edge, TCI, powerglide, chevy, B&M, ACC and a few more but I have no clue what's good and what isn't. Pricey little bastards though! I've heard of TCI and B&M but have no clue whether or not there products good. What size to go with 9", 9.5", 10" these things would be god to know aswell. So I'm leaning towards a 3500 stall since slowmaro is running damn near exactly what I have being done, 355 with the cc306 and the 3:73. Thanks gentlemen for all the help by the way!

Vigilante 3600 would be great. That was my first choice until I saw the price. I went with TCI only because of that reason. Maybe you can find a better deal than I was able to since this was over a year ago. Check with some of the sponsors.
