Newbie just got first camaro.
Hi guys, I'm a 24 year old guy from Central NY. Always been a diehard GM guy, and always played with older trucks, The camaros that were in my price range when I was 16-17 were usually mid 80's and full of rust and bondo.
Last week a buddy of mine traded me his '94 Z28.
The good:
LT1/4L60E
Came with Procharger setup, (not installed).
Car is rust free (from south florida)
Car runs pretty strong, has 140K on it.
The Bad:
Interior is a little rough, (door panels, center console etc)
Trans only has 2nd, 3rd gear, driven from florida like this.
Couple body dings, not bad.
Needs general tlc.
What I'm looking to do: Build a fun, fast, streetable, reliable car.
My thinking is, procharged 383, 4L80E and some sort of beefed up rearend.
I would mainly be going to local car shows, to work once in a while, maybe a few 100 mile trips here and there, and the drag strip once a year.
What kind of reliable HP can you get out of a FI 383 with a blower?
Looking for everyones input. If you were in my situation and had my goals, what parts would you use/what would you do? Thanks! -Mike

there are plenty of people running DD 383 setups such as myself. I plan to gor FI in the near future, but will be going with a different shortblock (need forged internals and much lower compression)
With a good procharger, stout heads and the right cam, you could easily have a 500rwhp daily driver

Welcome. I'm pretty new here myself, another CNY-er. Like MTBSully said, a 500rwhp d/d isn't asking too much from an FI 383 - I'd start w/ reasonably low compression so you can keep the car on 93 octane, and a mild/medium cam/stall combination - a 383 is gonna be a torque monster, so you could stick w/ a decent stall and a 3.42 rear-end and still leave really hard and retain good crusing economy.
