No 3.42's in '93 fellas...In '93 with the T-56's you have the M28 (2.73 rear gear) and M29 (3.23 rear gear). Check out your option codes and and it will tell ya which one you have.

Year 1993 (M28) / 1993 (M29) / 1994+ (MN6)

1st: 3.36 / 2.97 / 2.66
2nd: 2.07 / 2.07 / 1.78
3rd: 1.35 / 1.43 / 1.30
4th: 1.00 / 1.00 / 1.00
5th: 0.80 / 0.80 / 0.74
6th: 0.62 / 0.62 / 0.50

I swapped a T56 into my buddy's '98 B4C w/ 2.73's. He said it was garbage with those gears. He'll be swapping in a 3.42 rear end soon!

Actually in '93 the tranny gear ratios were more aggressive so having 2.73's in an M28 '93 6-speed isn't like running 2.73's with a later 6-speed ('94-'02).

I edited this into my other post but this explains what I'm talking about...
Year 1993 (M28) / 1993 (M29) / 1994+ (MN6)

1st: 3.36 / 2.97 / 2.66
2nd: 2.07 / 2.07 / 1.78
3rd: 1.35 / 1.43 / 1.30
4th: 1.00 / 1.00 / 1.00
5th: 0.80 / 0.80 / 0.74
6th: 0.62 / 0.62 / 0.50

The 2.73 and 3.23 M28 and M29's actually have a shorter 1st and 2nd gear than a later 6-speed and 3.42's. Unsure of the rest of the gears since I didnt do all the math.

i ran w/ a 2.73 in my M6 93z for 3 years. not bad on gas but not great for the drag.

btw you better double check your gears by spining the wheels and seeing how many times the drivshaft turns with 1 full wheel spin cause my code in my glove box said i had 3.23 and turned out i actully had 2.73 and ended up buying the wrong ring&pinion

For every rotation of the wheels, the driveshaft will turn 3.23 times.

If it says GU5, you have 3.23s. That simple (if you aren't drunk).

i think you got this backwards. with 1 full rotation of you wheel ur driveshaft should spin 3.23 times

GM didn't offer 3.42 gears for the '93 Camaro. It was either 2.73 or 3.23 for the MN6.

Thats a good idea, the way these things blow 10 bolts you never know what has been swapped in place unless you are the original owner.
