I just scanned it with an autoXray and it told me "no trouble codes found", even though I have the "check gauges" and Service Engine Soon" lights.
I'm going ahead and changing the opti (acdelco)

do you mean the SES and check gauges lights are on when the engine is running or engine is not running? if the Key is ON and Engine is OFF those lights should be on...

Engine doesn't start, so off, in the on position. I thought I remembered that differently, but you're probably right.
So if I get no codes, does it mean anything significant? I really really hope this new opti fixes the problem, I already have the waterpump off and the ACdelco just arrived. I'm thinking this remanufactured opti crapped out on me. It just dies without warning, no sputtering, should have known it wasn't fuel.
I'm mostly afraid I'll do something wrong.
