You guessed it. Combining the two is a no-no.

If the rockers are still good then you should be able to just take the guide plates off. That or get a set of NSA rockers.

You could have also damaged your pushrods as well so be sure to check those when you tear back into it

Either Pro Mags or Crane Golds, designed for a NSA setup.

Are you using hardened pushrods, and what guideplates are you using?

I would not use Comp guideplates. They don't seem to align all cylinders properly (could have been your problem).

Some suggestions:
GM p/n 14011051 (8 needed) check them for hardness
Trickflow Part # 30400623-8
or adjustable guideplates

I believe the Comp plates are the same ones they use for SBCs. There are slight differences in the LT1 heads, so all cylinders don't seem to line up.

Looks eerily similar to what one of my rockers looked like when the lifter under it grenaded itself. What springs, locks, and retainers did you use, and what was the installed height?

I'm thinking either the guideplates were sooo far off it pushed the rocker to the side, or it was the wrong spring/lock/retainer combo for those rockers and the aligning tabs ate themselves on the locks.

Just saying that even though guideplates should not be used with SA rockers, I would not imagine that much damage on that many rockers because of it. I would pull the intake and check all the lifters just to be safe.

well i pulled the intake i think it might be the guide plates they don't seem to be letting the pr line up correctly man this sucks ... pulled my lifters to and checked them and they didn't compress any so i might have lifter problems too i believe i will get lifters and new rr's too and ditch the guide plates for now

I would get (I have all of these in my car except the lifters):
Trickflow guideplates - 30400623-8
Comp ProMags - 1305-16
Trickflow Chromemoly pr's - 21407xxx (for 7.xxx" length, measure for your application)
LS7 lifters (you can get them from the dealer)

The Trick flow GPs do require a little modding for them to fit right. At least Speedinc had to mod mine
