do the block off plates seal well or do you need to use a gasket still?

If you look in the "help" section you can some times find factory style gaskets, other wise most people use RTV.

gd it, so i go to change oil after seafoam and i find i dont have enough oil. go to pep boys, get more...they have duplicolor, but not chevy blue so i gonna have to order it.

i drain and remove old filter, replace and replace, pour 4.5 qts down the hatch...start it up....NO OIL PRESSURE!

i immediately turn it off, hoping nothing is wrong and the sensor just decided to fail..turn it on again real quick to see if that fixes it..these cars are weird. still no help so i turn it off immediately. no knock or anything thankfully. i turn it off and look under and oil is leaking FAST..i think it was from the filter. it looks like an oil spider lol...like six or eight legs going down from one big source. after running to the store to get oil dri and a drink, coming back and sweeping it all up. well i havent told my dad what happened. i mean there was no knocking or thud so i dont think i spun a bearing yet lol.. tho that would be a good excuse to go 383

i thinking i might just leave the car up and pull intake tomorrow. im just worried for my oil situation, im thinking of where all it could come from. valve covers were dry, dipstick was dry, couldnt have been back of intake or rear seal. i REALLY think it was the filter cos of the shape...i mean there wasnt really anything on the drain plug or the sensor in the pan.

sorry guys, i just get really worried when it comes to my baby and i NEVER fcked up like that before in the dozen of oil changes ive done over the last 2 yrs. so it is a first for me..i dont want to end up having to pull the pan, replace that and a bunch of other crap.

Are you sure you used the correct filter?

Did you lube the rubber o-ring on the filter and clean the block mating surfaces?

Was it tight enough?

Did you fill it with new oil first?

LOL. That's not as bad as having your new engine on the stand, having a power drill hooked up to a primer tool on the oil pump and spinning it for 5 mins...only to realize the I had just remove the oil filter and that 5 whole quarts of oil is now EVERYWHERE in the garage.

You would be surprised how much some techs don't know about any car, not just LT1's. I have been a tech for 15 years and have worked with some real gems that supposedly have been wrenching for 30+ years, what they forgot to say was they pumped gas at the station for 24 years then changed oil for the next 6.
Not all techs are morons, just the ones that are give the good ones a bad name!!!
