Yes, and don't put the new one on until you put the oil pan back in place.

The oil level sensor senses the level of the oil.

It's what sets the low oil light on inside the dash when your oil is low.

Don't need to. We just had a thread on this and someone chimed in that they got one from a parts store, and I listed a P# from NAPA as well. Thankfully I still have that image I made!

OP: You can take this part number and goto another autoparts chain to cross reference. I'd just print that out, but if not just make sure to mention it's an Echlin brand.

LOL i knew that i guess i had a brain fart. i was looking at it and was trying to figure how it works. it has a plastic part coming out with a plastic ring around it . the ring i guess floats and maybe sends a signal when it comes into contact with the part its around ???

Yea, there's a magnetic contact encased in plastic and then a magnet on that float lever. Now, I'm not 100% sure which way it works but it either: Float is already in the contact position from floating, and when it drops low enough the arm falls and breaks the contact triggering the Low Oil condition. OR Float is... floating... and doesn't have contact with the switch, so it knows you have enough oil, but when it drops low enough, it makes contact and then triggers the Low Oil condition. See crude image to help lol
