Default Lifters???

What is the best way to pump up a set of lifters on a lt1? without starting it?

You can try priming the oil pump. Why don't you want to start the engine?

You can pull the PCM fuse, remove the spark plugs, keep the TB open, and spin the engine with the starter. I don't know if that will even get it close enough to pumping up the lifters. It will however prime the crank at least. But the lifter will pump up quickly after initial start up.

I dont have all the ignition hooked up yet and I wanna run the valves before i put the valve covers on and dont really wanna pull them back off.

It's best to leave the covers off and adjust the rockers with the car running, that will ensure the most accurate valve lash adjustment.

if you soak them in a bucket of oil for a day or two they should be kinda close. but they have to be submerged. ive never done it. i usually just start the engine and run it a while then re adjust the valves when its hot. but thats what all the old school guys do.
