If you have stock hood I don't think this will get you there but if you have 2 coming i say chop it up
Oh, I plan on doing a lot of cutting to it. I'm probably going to have to cut down the core support a little more too, because I'm going to make it so the airbox goes down quite a bit lower, so the lid still sits about flush with the core support. It's going to get pretty interesting, but I plan on making it work somehow.

The above is again a decent attempt at making it look good but it still doesn't have a good way to seal the filter in place and then when you need to clean it etc how long will takin it apart etc take, I think you might end up stripping the holes in the rad support out also and then what? using the lower piece seems ideal if there is a way to make it fit under a stock camaro hood I would like to see it done.

if you have not done it you will never know that it can be sealed up nice and clean quite a few of us have it done properly!
the entire Ls1 set up is IMPOSSIBLE with a stock hood so throw that idea to the curb.
people have made this mod/conversion out as if it is difficult... on a scale of 1-10 on difficulty i would say it is a 3. very moderate for the average......

So what part of the lower air box gets cut. The best Ican tell is that the radiato support that the filter lies in is all one piece except for the little square piece lying in the bottom. What are you guys talking about cutting. I WANT to do this to but I can't stand a hack job, it needs to be neat so I need to be clear.

I cut into the Core Support a little bit. I also used some small screws with some Aluminum, and bolted a little lip to the back of the Lid and to the lower Air Box that holds the Filter. I bent the top part of metal ontop of the Radiator to slide that lip of Aluminum into, that is what holds it down in the back. In the front I have it locking into a couple of bolts in the Core Support. Then the two pieces of stainless hold the Radiator forward.

It was the same way when I had my LT1 in it.

It will only be a hack job if you allow it to become one. If you don't have metal cutting skills, cant read a tape measure, cant follow a line, have no depth perception or flat out cant fabricate DONT ATTEMPT this mod it will look like POOO when done but i am confident 80% of the people i have seen reply on this topic will do it nicely and the other 20% should never attempt a mod like this cause they still have yet to figure out the alternator has to come off to change #2 spark plug..lol

Not completely. The SSRA is on, but I still haven't had time to finish up the airbox. Been too busy with other stuff. Once I get my cutting out issue fixed on my car, I'll attempt to get the airbox done.

ya that would have helped. Im lucky now that i dont have anything in the way anymore except the headers themselves. Everything is gone including the alt moved down to where the a/c compressor used to be located by modifying the factory acc. bracket.

I had to change my plugs today. The #2 one wasn't hard at all. All of them weren't bad, except for #7. Oh well. Atleast my car's running good now. And I can focus on getting the airbox fabbed up again.
