Default Cam?

I have a 96 Lt1 motor that I'm in the process of rebuilding and the cam doesn't appear stock. It has 864 stamped on the end and GMPT-BC-17-705 or7035 in between the lobes on one end, anyone know what this cam is?

Does the motor have stock springs, rockers, etc?

Not really sure I put them on a spring tester and they maxed out at about 295 lbs,the springs look a little beefy compared to stockers.

Hate to burst your bubble...that's a stock '95-'97 cam. The 705 just means it has the longer dowel pin.

Are you sure you have the right cam number?

You want this grind number:
268XFI HR13
218/224 .570/.565 113

I'd go bigger if I were you. I DD my CC503 and I love it.

Take a look at the 276HR-12 (CC503)
224/230 .503/.510 112

That XFI cam your looking at would be a fantastic cam for a DD like your planning to build. Honestly though I would step up to the cc503 if you want to run an off-the-shelf. The cc503 is great in daily drivers (drove it to school an hour each way) and will not only sound noticibly choppier (if thats what you want) but make a solid 10-15hp/tq over the 466. Plus the cc503 would be pretty nice with ported heads.

if you're porting the heads I'd look into a custom LE cam, only like 30-40 bucks more shipped than a comp cam + shipping

I'd recommend the 224/230 also for a DD

Hear they make good numbers yet still drive good as a DD

I have the Comp 230/236. I love the top end, definitly kicks ***, but it's a dog down low. If I could switch things up I would have went a little bit lower in duration.

You probably didn't optimize your set up...what stall (if A4) and what gear are you running?
