Ok so on top of having a nasy hesitation and backfireing problem at low rpm's, the car just dies while driving but will start right back up. Is this an icm issue?

Back firing is usually caused by an ignition problem I'd check the plugs, wires, coil, opti, and ICM, replacing parts in that order.

Mine did that last year after sitting for an extended period of time over winter outside. Ended up having condensation or something in the opti. Took the breather lines off and parked it in a dry garage, finally cleared up and ran normal.

yes, its a 1993 trans am m6 gt. I just had the engine out and used new msd wires, ngk tr6 plugs, and msd cap and rotor. The coil and icm were kept and had no problems untill now that i got the engine back in. The car is backfiring and running rough but doesent seem to be related to the car just dying. I t has had the opti like symptoms for a while now but just started dying today.

And, the O2's, right? On an LS1, the front O2's can cause similar problems. Forget about the LT's. I had every problem you can have with my '94 Z. Then, I learned that LT's are, indeed, "gay" and moved up.

Why the TR6's? too cold of a plug for a stock setup

I would be checking those plugs out to make sure they aren't fouled or anything

Yes, OP, check your o2's with a scanner. And as someone else stated, check your fuel pressure.

LT1 s are gay, huh?
Sorry that your lack of SBC and automotive knowledge is leading to this pithetic conclusion. Your motor probably just hates your frigging guts for being stupid.

Mine used to stall and start back up, and than a month later, it wouldn't start back up that easily anymore. New ICM fixed it.

Oh, and LT1's are so gay, I just brought another one home today.

So why did you go with the TR6 plugs? Have you double checked all the wires, plugs etc etc. I had your same problem and it ended up being plug wires...they were new as well.

Damn guys. It was just a joke. I dont really think lt1's are gay, if i did i wouldent have pulled the engine, got 2500 bucks worth of:

lt's with 3" ory, svo injectors, cai, rear main seal, pan gasket, valve cover gaskets, timing set and gasket set, madz28 pcm tune, tranny output seal, opti cap and rotor, water pump, ws6 wheels and tires, air foil, plus wires, and poly motor and tranny mounts.

I do know alot about the lt1, and have for years, i just havent been able to afford one untill i had a friend buy one, abuse it, and sell it to me. It went from not running at all, to my daily driver in 2 weeks. I just thought someone may have had the same problem as me and could tell me something i havent thought of yet, I have been over the plugs and wires. At this point im thinking opti, and/or icm.
