Default Peculiar problem, rear hatch button does not work ?

Peculiar problem, all of sudden the rear hatch release does not work on my 96 WS6. I just noticed this problem, tested and checked all the fuses, but the button just acts like there is nothing connected. I can't even hear the click sound the hatch release normally makes at the rear of the car. Does anyone have a suggestion ?

It doesn't work on or off, even with the E-brake up? I'd say remove the panel that houses the hatch release button and see if the connector on the back of the panel got disconnected somehow.

Try changing the battery in your remote. Mine used to work off and on but Im sure it was because the battery was weak.

I installed a Viper 5900 and the trunk pop works perfect.

The watch battery is a lot cheaper though.. haha.

He's talking about the rear hatch release (little yellow button buy your left knee), not the key fob.

Correct, the little yellow push button by your left knee. I have checked the connector on the back; even purchased a new switch, but it's still not working ?

on the 96 Camaro its actually in the glove box. weird, huh.

anyway, mine does the same thing. It sometimes works and sometimes not. Ive found that if the car is on, theres a 50/50 chance it might not work, but if the car is off it works 100% of the time. What could cause this?

Correct me if I'm wrong but with the engine running, you have to have your parking brake up to pop the hatch right? Maybe you have a poor connection to your parking brake, should be a little clip. Does your red "brake" light always come on and stay on when you have the parking brake up?
Just an idea...

Now back on topic, please.

Does anyone think that the BCM could be malfunctioning ?
